Dr. Donald J Powers

Donald J Powers D.D.S. has over 33 years experience in dentistry, in Jackson.  Dr. Powers graduated from St. Johns High School, class 67. Jackson Community College, Western Michigan University, Go Broncos, and University of Michigan Dental School class76, Go Blue!

June 30^th, 2007 in San Diego, aboard the aircraft carrier UUS Midway, Dr. Powers was awarded the highest award for continuing dental education presented by the Academy of General Dentistry. The Master, award is presented in recognition of professional dedication to the best possible patient care through an active involvement in organized dentistry and the completion of 1100 hours of disciplined and comprehensive dental study covering all aspects of dentistry.  In July of 2003, the Academy of General Dentistry awarded Fellowship to Dr. Powers at their meeting in Nashville.  Fellowship requires 500 hours of classes and passing a day long written exam. June of 05 Dr. Powers and staff attended the Mercer leadership course, four days in Las Vegas, so to better serve our patients. In 2002 Dr. Powers completed two continuums in Cosmetic Dentistry in New Orleans, at LSU.  The Jackson Dental Study Club traveled to London, England , October, 2002.   Dr. Powers was one of the presenters, and lectured on how Dental Health and Diabetes affect one another. The Study Club lectured in Rome, Italy, in September of 05. In 04 and 05 Dr. Powers has been involved in two, continuing education curriculum of Implantology totaling 150 hours. 100 to 200 hours of continuing education are taken every year by Dr. Powers.

 Dr. Powers is committed to outstanding relationships and using the best techniques and treatments. We were one of the first Dental Practices, to use Digital (low energy computer assisted) X-rays, Lasers, Air Abrasion, Digital Photography. Conscious Sedation (sleep dentistry) was added in 2003. Dr. Powers fits the Lumen Christi Football Team with professional fitting mouth guards. His son Ryan was a wide receiver on the 03/04 state championship teams. Ryan, graduated with honors from the University of Michigan, Business School,09,  GO BLUE! Dr. Powers’ wife Elaine can be seen assisting at the office on occasion and their daughter Lindsay is a graduate of MSU business school, Go Green! Lindsay is living in Phoenix and works for Intel.

Dr. Marco Tauil

Marco A Tauil DDS has over 14 years of experience in clinical dentistry. Dr. Tauil, graduated with honors from the Central University of Venezuela at Caracas in April 1996. He was ranked #1 in his class out of 119 graduating students for having obtained the highest grade point average. In August 1996 he started his Graduate Restorative Dentistry Program at the University of Michigan which completed in 1998 and the same year joined the Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program which he finished in 1999. Those two graduate programs focused their attention in general and restorative dentistry as well as management of complex aesthetic cases. Upon completion of his graduate studies, Dr Tauil practiced for 6 years and then went back to school to complete his US DDS at the University of Detroit Mercy in 2007. Dr. Tauil has always had a great interest in teaching dental students and since 1996 he has shared his time between teaching and private practice. He has taught restorative dentistry both overseas and in the US and is very passionate about that. He currently teaches Restorative Dentistry at the University of Detroit Mercy as a Clinical Assistant Professor. He has been granted several awards by his graduating classes as an Outstanding Preclinical Instructor. Since Dr. Tauil is very active in the Dental School, he has participated in many courses involving clinical dentistry and recently Implant Dentistry and CAD-CAM restorations. Dr. Tauil is committed to outstanding relationships and uses the best techniques and treatments available. He is constantly looking for excellence.

• American Dental Educators Association (ADEA)

Personally, Dr. Tauil is married to Alejandra de Fuentes DDS since 2003 and has been blessed with two amazing children: Isaac Daniel (2 years old) and Gabriella Victoria (1 year old). He truly enjoys his children and they are his full time job outside of dentistry.

Dr. Powers is past president of the Jackson District Dental Society and is active in the following dental organizations.
